Amlodipine Besylate belongs to dihydropyridine calcium antagonist, which can effectively inhibit the calcium ion transmembrane flow of myocardium and vascular smooth muscle, and reduce blood pressure by directly dilating vascular smooth muscle. Often used in the pharmaceutical industry.
Amlodipine besylate, whose chemical formula is C26H31ClN2O8S, is a long-acting calcium ion channel inhibitor, which is clinically used to treat cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, angina pectoris and congestive cardiac arrest.
Experimental data suggest amlodipine binds to both dihydropyridine and nondihydropyridine binding sites. The contractile processes of cardiac muscle and vascular smooth muscle are dependent upon the movement of extracellular calcium ions into these cells through specific ion channels. Amlodipine inhibits calcium ion influx across cell membranes selectively, with a greater effect on vascular smooth muscle cells than on cardiac muscle cells.
