Maduramcin Ammonium is prepared from maduramicin by taking advantage of the acidic carboxylic acid which ionises and readily forms the salt in ammonium hydroxide solutions. The ammonium salt is the preferred formulation in animals to prevent coccidiosis and to promote growth.
Maduramycin Ammonium is glycoside polyether ionophore antibiotic,which has the strongest anticoccidial effect and the lowest drug concentration,and thus it is widely used in anti-coccidiosis of chicken.
Maduramicin is also active against Treponema and Cryptosporidium. Maduramicin is an ionophore, forming complexes with monovalent cations, with a higher affinity for K+ than Na+.
Function:
Maduramicin Ammonium plays a role in the 48h before coocidia's asexual reproduction, killing coccidia's sporozoite, trophozoites and the first generation schizonts. It could disrupt membrane's active transport capacity of Na+and K+in coccidia, to make coccidia energy lacking and death.
