Product Description

Vitamin D2, chemically known as ergocalciferol, is an open-ring steroid formed by the breaking of chemical bonds of steroids under photochemical action, especially by the action of ultraviolet light and ergosterol. The early preparation of ergocalciferol is also known as Viosterol.

According to the 2011 US diagnostic guidelines, ergocalciferol may be used as a dietary supplement to supplement vitamin D. Ergocalciferol is just as effective as cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), which is produced by the skin in response to UV exposure.
