1,3-dimethylamantane is mainly used in manufacturing memantine hydrochloride, etc.
The reduction of acenaphthene to acenaphthene hydride was carried out at 170 ºC under 1.5 MPa hydrogen pressure using Pd/C as catalyst. The synthesis of 1,3-dimethyladamantane was carried out under the catalytic reaction of AlCl3 at 70 ºC for 1 h. The total yield of 1,3-dimethyladamantane was 66.9%. The total yield was 66.9%.
Preparation of 1,3 dimethyladamantane from perhydroacenaphthene in the presence of Lewis acid and acetic acid (Lewis acid/HAc) catalysts. It is possible to obtain 1,3 dimethyladamantane with low impurity and high content, and the reaction conditions are mild and simple, which is more suitable for industrial production.
