Sulfadiazine is an organic compound, white or almost white crystal or powder, odorless, tasteless, and gradually darker when exposed to light. Almost insoluble in water, soluble in boiling water (1:60), slightly soluble in ethanol and acetone, insoluble in chloroform and ether, and easily soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide solution. Melting point: 252~256ºC (decompose at the same time). Its sodium salt is white crystalline powder, odorless and slightly bitter in taste.
