Function
1. Antibacterial activity Several diterpenoid quinones isolated from sage showed different degree of inhibition on Staphylococcus aureus, among which dihydrotanshinone and cryptotanshinone had stronger antibacterial activity. The results showed that quinone group was the active group for bacteriostasis, and adjacent quinone had the strongest effect. The anti-inflammatory quinone solution obtained from Gancey sage had strong antibacterial effect on Streptococcus agalactus, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus.
2. Immunomodulatory effects Polysaccharides have immunomodulatory effects and can be used as immune promoters to control cell division and differentiation. The crude polysaccharide extracted from salvia is rich in arabinogalactan, pectin and glucuronic acid xylan polymers. Lymphocyte transformation tests have shown that it has immunomodulatory effects and promotes mitosis of mouse thymocytes.
3. Anti-inflammatory effects Protocatechuic acid of sage extract can reduce capillary permeability, inhibit leukocyte migration, stabilize lysosomal membrane, resist lipid peroxidation, remove free radicals and promote the release of NO, which is one of the effective active ingredients involved in anti-inflammatory effects.
