Sodium citrate, chemical formula C6H5Na3O7, molecular weight 258.07, is an organic compound, colorless rhombic columnar crystal, stable in air, soluble in water and glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol. The aqueous solution is slightly alkaline and has a cool feeling when tasted. When heated to 100ºC, it becomes a dihydrate salt. Commonly used as buffer, complexing agent, bacterial medium, food, beverage, electroplating, photography and other aspects.
