Niacinamide, also known as nicotinamide, is an amide compound of niacin. White crystalline powder; Odorless or almost odorless, bitter in taste; Slightly moisture-inducing. Soluble in water or ethanol, soluble in glycerol. Clinically, it is mainly used for prevention and treatment of pellagra, stomatitis, glossitis, sick sinus syndrome, atrioventricular block and other problems.
Niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin and a member of the B vitamin family. Niacin can be converted to niacinamide in vivo, and although both compounds have vitamin effects, niacinamide is less pharmacological and toxic than niacinamide, which occurs during the conversion of niacinamide. Therefore, nicotinamide does not reduce cholesterol or cause flushing as niacin does.
