Ferulic acid is a phenolic acid widely present in the plant world, and was first isolated from Ferula foetida regei by the German Hlasweta.H in 1866, so it was named ferulic acid. Later, ferulic acid was extracted from the seeds and leaves of many plants. Studies have shown that ferulic acid is one of the effective components of asafulae, ligusticum chuanxiong, Angelica sinensis, cohosh and equisetus, and is one of the main indexes to measure the quality of these herbs.
Ferulic acid comes in both cis and trans forms. Cis-type is yellow oil, trans-type is inclined direction crystal, white or microstrip yellow, in nature generally exists as a trans-structure. The trans structure is mainly used in cosmetics. Ferulic acid has a wide range of effects and is widely used in medicine, food, beauty care products and other industries.
Ferulic acid can enter the human body through transdermal absorption, and the permeability coefficient is positively correlated with the concentration. This allows ferulic acid to play a skin care role by applying it. The skin care effect of ferulic acid is mainly manifested in four aspects: 1, antioxidant; 2. Sun protection; 3, whitening; 4 Anti-inflammatory.
